This page is a guide to reaching Harwich from the main south-east England airports — Heathrow, Stansted, Gatwick and Luton.
There is no airport link coach service running directly to Harwich, but there are good connections at Colchester for Harwich throughout most of the day. Our trains page (there’s a link on the button-bar) collects together all sources of rail travel information, though local bus times are impossible to present here, either in raw form or as links. The passenger is at the mercy of the County Council’s various paper publications, available from Harwich bus station and Colchester travel office (next to the bus station). Additionally, screens at Colchester bus station list departures an hour or so ahead — but they’re often out of action.
The only direct airport link from Colchester to Stansted is First Airport Buses’ Stansted Coach Link, which serves both Colchester bus station and Colchester railway station with an hourly service. Regular Jetlink services connect Stansted with Heathrow and Gatwick — Jetlink services are listed on the National Express web-site (there’s a link below). Finally, Stansted Airport railway station is a 45-65 minute journey from London’s Liverpool Street station.
The Gatwick Express train service, which runs from Victoria Station, and the Heathrow Express, which uses Paddington, may be of use for those who prefer to travel entirely by rail, to go via London. Links to their respective web-sites are given in the table below. Times of train departures for Harwich from Liverpool Street Station can be downloaded on our train services page.
