Trains ..

There are no special late trains this year again as the new timetable caters very well for most festivalgoers. Last train from Dovercourt Station is at 2307 which, with a change at Manningtree, arrives at Colchester at 2339, Ipswich at 2343 and Norwich at 0039. Anyone going downstream of Colchester has to get the 2156 from Dovercourt (changing at Manningtree) which arrives at Liverpool Street at 2334. For full details see the timetable on the One Railway website here.

Beer ..

We are trying rather hard to equal and even improve our beer list of last year which, hailed as a classic by many visitors, has given us all something to aim for!

Inspired by our Captain Fryatt theme this year (2006 marks the 90th anniversary of his death) we have secured a firkin of the test brewing of a new oyster stout from Mersea Island. Anyone who has tasted the Mersea dark beers of late will understand that there is much anticipation around this new brew which combines fantastic dark malt flavours with the world famous Mersea oysters. By special agreement with the brewery we are allowed to call the beer "Fryatt's Full Ahead".

Of course although we feature and promote seasonal and dark beers at our festival we have something for everyone including an excellent selection of light and golden beers. In fact we have all three (Gold, Silver and Bronze) Champion Beers of Britain - the all-conquering Crouch Vale Brewers Gold, the classic Harveys Sussex Best Bitter and the fabulous Triple FFF Moondance. Turning back to the dark side we certainly have some of the best dark and winter brews in the world including some absolute classics - Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby, Robinson's Old Tom, Old Chimneys Good King Henry and Harveys Christmas Ale - four beers there to sip and savour!
